While I will assume that you will not read all 16 pages of writing, I still felt that it was important to include in my portfolio as it is a paper I am very proud of. Minoring in Classical Culture was not something I planned on in college, but I took one course for a general education requirement and fell in love. While most would say that Advertising and the study of Roman Antiquity and the classical period do not have a lot of overlap, I would disagree. There are many things I have learned about human nature and what makes them take action, but also that humans have always been human. There are things that have evolved and things that will never change. This paper focuses on how Gossip acts as an informal surveillance system that was originally oppressed by the upper class Romans, until they learned it could be used for self promotion in social and political realms. I hope you enjoy what you read, because creating this paper showed me how much I love telling stories.
